BYD Ocean Network recently announced that its flagship SUV, the Sea Lion 08, will officially hit the market on September 2. The new model will be offered in plug-in hybrid and all-electric variants, equipped with second-generation Blade Batteries, fast charging technology and the God’s Eye 5.0 intelligent driving assistance system. The all-electric version delivers a CLTC comprehensive cruising range of up to 900 km.
## Exterior Design
Adopting BYD’s Ocean Aesthetic design language, the vehicle features wave-shaped daytime running lights and vertically split headlights at the front, alongside a functional intake grille. It boasts sleek side profiles paired with semi-hidden door handles, while a through-type taillight assembly decorates the rear end. Its dimensions measure 5,115 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase stretching 3,030 mm.
## Chassis & Core Technologies
All trims come standard with the Cloud-A dual-chamber air suspension, road preview scanning system and rear-wheel steering. The CTB (Cell to Body) integrated battery-body construction technology is applied across the lineup for enhanced structural safety and space efficiency.
## Interior Layout & Equipment
The cockpit adopts an enveloping layout for the front row, fitted with a 15.6-inch floating central control touchscreen and an integrated digital instrument cluster. A six-seat layout is available, whose second row features slidable zero-gravity seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions. Premium amenities include a 21.4-inch overhead entertainment screen, a 25-speaker Devialet audio system, an in-car refrigerator and foldable tray tables. A five-seat configuration is also offered for customers with different space demands.
## Powertrain Specifications
### Plug-in Hybrid Variant
Powered by a 1.5T engine with a peak output of 115 kW, the PHEV lineup includes single-motor (200 kW) and dual-motor (200 kW front + 200 kW rear) setups, with a maximum CLTC pure electric range of 400 km.
### All-Electric Variant
Three all-electric powertrain options are provided: single 320 kW motor, single 370 kW motor, and dual motors (215 kW front / 370 kW rear). Two battery packs are on offer — 92.093 kWh and 115.072 kWh — delivering CLTC cruising ranges of 710 km, 800 km and 900 km respectively.
